skills development

Skills development is a core area of focus for The Webcom Group. We believe in creating sustainable development by providing disadvantaged people with the skills and opportunity they need to uplift themselves and improve their situation.

We believe that by investing money in these youngsters, giving them the opportunity to receive training and have a career, we are investing not only in their future and our future, but in the future of the country as a whole.  We work hand in hand with external training providers, who train PDIs. We then provide these individuals with the necessary workplace experience to fully equip them to handle the job.

HP Business Institute
Webcom also has a partnership with the HP Business Institute in the running of learnerships. We regularly take on individuals who have completed classroom training at the HP Business Centre, and provide these individuals with mentorship and practical training for a twelve month period to help them complete their learnerships.

These learners spend 30% of their time in a classroom environment attaining formal educational training and 70% of the time at Webcom gaining real work experience in various areas of the business.

So far all learners who have obtained the qualification have been offered full time employment within The Webcom Group.

Employment Equity
Webcom also has a fully functioning Employment Equity policy, where young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with on-the-ground training for specific positions as and when these become available; to ensure that these individuals have the skills and training necessary for particular job functions.

Our focus is around creating skills to help uplift people and fill the skills gaps that exist within the ICT market in South Africa.
